Inspire the next generation of Designers, Inventors, and Scientists at The STEAM Project. At our year-round youth Makerspace and summer camps, we help kids learn new skills in robotics, woodworking, electronics, engineering, 3D printing, fashion design, digital art, and more.

I grew as a leader as I learned to manage staff and teach and inspire youth, but I also grew as an engineer in ways that university courses could never teach us. I learned technical skills across engineering disciplines and was actually given the opportunity to hone and apply them. I learned that being creative is okay, which is never taught in such a technical discipline, and that it’s okay to make mistakes in the real world as long as we learn and grow from them.

I feel like this camp is the reason I have the confidence to be around people I’ve never met. As a camper, I was usually the one that wouldn’t have anyone to talk to, but as a counsellor I was given the opportunity to help campers like me to step out of their comfort zone. I was thrilled to be a part of the STEAM Project family this summer – I watched the staff video every day until university started because I wanted to remember the summer for just a little longer.

Leadership
Site Manager
