About The Position

Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $48,750 – $75,000 per year

We are looking for an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with an interest in STEAM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) and a passion for educating older children and teens.

This role is fully in-person at our Makerspace in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

  • Enjoys working with youth and teens
  • Possesses science teachables, physics is an asset
  • Experienced in classroom management of middle and high school students
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Comfortable communicating with parents, students, and co-workers
  • Able to design and implement fun, exciting, and high-impact lessons and experiences for youth, with a focus on educational components

Job Responsibilities

  • Work in a team to develop hands-on projects and lessons relating to topics in science, technology, engineering, arts and math
  • Act as the team “expert” in the Ontario middle and high school curriculum
  • Review and revise existing programs and lesson to align with current curriculum
  • Lead and guide a group of instructors, sharing best teaching practices and curriculum knowledge 
  • Help create new projects and lesson plans
  • Instruct programs and activities

Job Requirements

  • Current Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) designation
  • Experience teaching science and/or math to students in middle and high school
  • Experience create lesson plans linked to curriculum goals
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C or willingness to obtain
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Check from within the past six (6) months or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with and passion for building, making, robotics, coding, and/or graphic design are considered an asset

This job may be funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
