About The Position
Employment Type: Full-Time, contract
Working Hours:
– Mandatory pre-camp training dates: June 17, 24, 28, 29 (9:30am-4:30pm)
– Pre-camp season: May 8 – June 30 (9:30am-4:30pm)
– Camp dates: July 3 – August 25 (8:30am – 4:30pm, Thursday until 5pm)
Contract Salary Range: $7,000 to $9,000
We are looking for enthusiastic and engaging program instructors to join our Summer 2023 camp team. Our instructors are integral to an amazing summer camp experience. They facilitate hands-on projects and activities for campers ages 4-14, providing them with opportunities to work together, build confidence, and learn new skills. Instructors should be able to demonstrate their passion for or experience with inspiring children and youth in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Design, or the Arts for STEAM camps. We offer some of the coolest, cutting edge technology and provide campers with enriching, next-level programs and activities. We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience supervising children in a camp/recreation/educational setting
- Has experience facilitating programming for children and youth
- Understands different learning styles and can adjust facilitation methods accordingly
- Possesses creativity and excellent problem solving skills
- Is team-oriented and collaborative
- Can manage a group of participants for up to an hour at a time
- Can make any situation fun and is able to encourage others to feel the same way
- Is looking to have an amazing summer and provide that same opportunity to others
Role & Responsibilities
- Facilitate fun and exciting programming to groups of campers ages 4-14
- Ensure camper and staff safety at activity areas at all times
- Design STEAM lesson plans and activities as required
- Communicate with other instructors, counsellors, and the Leadership Team
- Have a ton of fun!
Responsibilities
- Currently a student in a post-secondary institution or graduated
- 1+ years experience facilitating programs for children, ideally in a camp or recreation setting
- 2+ years experience working with children
Considered an Asset:
- Experience with or education in making, robotics, coding, electronics, 2D/3D design, art tech
Additional Requirements:
- Emergency First Aid certification (Standard First Aid with CPR-C preferred)
- Vulnerable Sector Screening Check (upon hire – if under 18 years of age, a voluntary disclosure form will be provided by the camp for you to sign instead)
This job may be funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
