About the
Position:

Pre-Camp Dates: Starting mid to late May (dates TBD)

Camp Dates: June 30 – August 22 (8:45 AM – 4:00 PM)

We are looking for enthusiastic and organized Leadership Coordinators to join our Summer 2025 camp team. As a Leadership Coordinator, you will oversee our Senior Leadership Program (SLP) and Counsellor in Training (CIT) programs, playing a key role in developing leadership skills and fostering mentorship among youth. You will facilitate leadership training and activities for Senior Leaders in Grade 8 and our Counsellors in Training in Grade 9, providing opportunities for them to build confidence, collaborate, and learn from other staff members. If you have a passion for inspiring youth and experience working with children, we would love to meet you!

Our Ideal Candidate:

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience facilitating programs for children and youth, preferably in a camp or recreational setting.

A minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with children.

Full weekday availability throughout July and August, as well as during the pre-camp season.

Considered an Asset:

Experience working with youth in a camp or educational setting.

A background or education in teaching, recreation, science and technology, outdoor education, sports, or a related field.

Role & Responsibilities

Train, mentor, and supervise CITs and Senior Leaders, providing ongoing feedback and guidance to support their leadership development.

Plan, facilitate, and deliver leadership and camp activities for CITs and Senior Leaders, ensuring smooth operations and positive experiences.

Collaborate with STEAM instructors to integrate hands-on skills and equipment training into the leadership program for CITs and Senior Leaders.

Plan and manage cabin placements, ensuring CITs and Senior Leaders are well-supported in their roles.

Communicate regularly with participants, camp families, and the Director Team regarding progress, concerns, and updates.

Track attendance, child behavior, and manage conduct, maintaining clear communication with parents or guardians.

Develop and oversee community service projects for CITs and Senior Leaders, fostering teamwork and responsibility, through initiatives such as a community garden or a local food drive.

Prepare and deliver mid-term and final evaluations for CITs and Senior Leaders, tracking volunteer hours and ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately.

Additional Requirements

Vulnerable Sector Screening Check (must have before the start of camp).

Valid driver’s license with reliable access to a vehicle.

Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C (must have before the start of camp).

This job may be funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
