Toronto to Montreal in 30 minutes. Sounds crazy, right? Not for Team Waterloop.

The team from Waterloo University is building a hyperloop pod – a transportation solution that utilizes levitation technology to reach incredibly high speeds.

On Friday, July 13, campers at The STEAM Project summer camp had the opportunity to ask the Waterloo University team questions about their hyperloop pod, explore their prototype, try out a few of the gadgets, and learn about the challenges that the team has faced so far.

Team Waterloop is planning to compete in the 2019 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition in Hawthorne, California. A challenge that will see experimental pods from all over the world hurling down a one-mile long tube. The fastest pod will win the competition (the actual requirement is for the pod to reach maximum speed with successful deceleration i.e. without crashing!).

We will be!
