Gr. 7-9

About ThE Program

What is FTC?

Want to be a part of a global community of student inventors, programmers, and engineers? Join our FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team!

The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an international robotics competition for students aged 12 to 18, where the task is to design, build, and program a robot to compete against other teams.

TSP & Lauremont School Collaboration

In the 2024-2025 school year, The STEAM Project will be sponsoring one FTC robotics team composed of Grade 7-9 students from Lauremont School. This team will have two weekly meetings at The STEAM Project’s state-of-the-art Makerspace where they will have access to tools, tech, mentors, and a practice arena!

Skills to Explore

Students will be introduced to using the electronics and hardware involved in powering and controlling their robot (motors, sensors, controllers, control hub, etc). Students will be trained to use the tools and equipment required to design, build and test their team’s robot such as drills, wrenches, CAD software and 3D printers.

2024-2025 Theme

2024-2025’s FTC theme is Into The Deep, where teams will use their STEM and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Join us to code, design, and dive robots into the depths of the ocean to explore the unknown and reveal its wonders!

Our team welcomes students of all skill levels, willing to learn and share their skills. Join us on our build team or pit crew, or as a programmer, driver, speaking representative, or designer!
