ASSISTANT CAMP DIRECTOR (FULL-TIME)

About the
Position:

The STEAM Project is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic camp professional with a love for inspiring and empowering others. This fantastic experience offers excellent leadership development opportunities, the chance to acquire new technical and design skills, and a place to build lifelong friendships within the camping industry. The STEAM Project Staff Training program runs in May and June and the Summer Camp Program in July and August. This is a full-time position and is fully in-person.

We are looking to fill year-round camp directors.

  • Oversight responsibilities for program planning, program delivery and administration.
  • Provide leadership and programming that enables children and youth to develop skills, make friends, socialize and build self-esteem.
  • Oversee hiring and the development of our Summer camp staff team training program
  • Ensure consistency in camp policies and processes including training and communication in conjunction with our team of camp directors.
  • Coach and supervise 100 staff including program directors, instructors, counsellors, specialists and volunteers throughout the Summer.
  • Oversee 400 campers ranging from 4 to 16 years of age
  • Direct day-to-day camp operation.
  • Promote TSP at Community events and through social media.

Requirements

Experience with design, prototyping, and hands-on building

Experience working with children and/or teens

Considered an Asset:

Hands-on experience with hand and power tools, 3D printers, and/or laser cutters.

Experience with Microsoft Excel and functions for organization

Experience with 3D design software (eg. AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Rhino)

Experience with 2D design software (eg. Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Corel)

Experience with safety measures in a workshop and with fabrication equipment

Role & Responsibilities

Help with project production and manufacturing

Assist with redesigning and modifying existing projects

Occasionally act as support in more technical lessons (eg. guiding a class through 3D printing, woodworking, laser cutting, etc.)

Additional Requirements

Required Certifications: Emergency First Aid with CPR-C (or willingness to obtain)
