We are looking for collaborative and resourceful members to join our production and manufacturing team for Summer Camp 2026. As a Production Assistant, you will assist with the development and production of STEAM projects for our camp locations. This includes packing and preparing materials for distribution, as well as supporting the prototyping, design, and manufacturing of hands-on projects using tools and technology.
The position is based at our Makerspace (561 Edward Avenue, Richmond Hill, ON), where you will work closely with the team to ensure the successful creation and delivery of materials. This role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a willingness to learn and operate fabrication equipment. If you are passionate about STEAM education and enjoy creative, hands-on work, this role is for you.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program, ideally in science, engineering, education, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience facilitating engaging programs for children, ideally in camp, recreation, or educational settings.
Experience using tools or workshop equipment, with an interest in learning to operate digital fabrication tools such as laser cutters or 3D printers.
Full weekday availability from late May to August.
Experience with hands-on skills in making, robotics, coding, electronics, 2D/3D design, woodworking
Operate and maintain laser cutters, 3D printers, and other fabrication equipment to produce high-quality STEAM projects and materials.
Follow established quality control processes to ensure precision and consistency in production.
Pack and prepare STEAM projects for distribution to sites, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Keep the workshop organized and safe, promptly reporting any issues or concerns to the manager.
Manage and maintain digital files in Google Drive for efficient project organization.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking needs with the Resource Coordinator.
Support the distribution and collection of materials and equipment to and from camp locations as needed.
Assist in instructing or leading STEAM lessons and specialty activities for children and youth, such as woodworking, robotics, and other themed camps.
Represent the organization by leading engaging on-site and off-site events with partner organizations.
Access to a personal device (i.e. laptop) to complete job responsibilities
Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C (required prior to the start of camp)
Vulnerable Sector Screening Check (required prior to the start of camp)
This job may be funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
