We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic Program Instructors to join our Summer 2025 camp team. Instructors play a crucial role in delivering unforgettable summer experiences by facilitating hands-on, engaging activities and projects for children ages 4-14. Our programs offer exciting opportunities to work with cutting-edge technology and help children develop valuable skills, build confidence, and collaborate. If you have experience working with children and a passion for inspiring youth, we would love to have you on board!
(JK – Grade 4)
Responsible for teaching and facilitating Science and Engineering concepts to children in JK-Grade 4 through hands-on learning and building projects. You will help to develop the children’s creativity, knowledge, and interest in STEM-related topics. Also responsible for instructing a basic introduction to certain topics including coding, robotics (e.g. lego robotics, dash robots), 3D printing, and woodworking. Instructors for this age group will be involved in the development of lessons, activities, and hands-on demonstrations being delivered during the summer.
(Grade 5 – 9)
Responsible for teaching and facilitating Science, Engineering, Art, and Math concepts to children in Grade 5-9, guiding them through design learning and the science and engineering process. You will also be responsible for leading hands-on activities in topics including woodworking, 3D printing, coding, robotics, making, creating, and more. Instructors for this age group may be involved in the design of lessons and projects being delivered during the summer.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Currently a student in a post-secondary institution or recently graduated (preferably in a science, engineering, education, or art-related field).
At least 1 year of experience facilitating programs for children, preferably in a camp or recreational setting.
A minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with children, with demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge and experience in one or more STEAM-related areas (e.g., coding, robotics, 3D printing, engineering, arts).
Experience with hands-on skills such as robotics, coding, electronics, 2D/3D design, woodworking, or other STEAM-related fields.
Familiarity with educational tools and software used for STEAM programming (e.g., Scratch, Tinkercad, Lego Robotics).
Deliver dynamic and engaging STEAM programming to children ages 4-14, fostering curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
Develop and implement creative, hands-on lesson plans and activities, including coding, robotics, 3D printing, and engineering challenges.
Provide a safe and supportive environment for children during all STEAM-related activities.
Actively engage in camp-wide programs and daily activities to contribute to a positive and exciting camp experience.
Encourage teamwork and problem-solving skills by guiding children through group-based activities and challenges.
Collaborate with fellow instructors, counsellors, and the leadership team to ensure smooth and effective program delivery.
Bring energy and enthusiasm to each session, making learning fun and engaging for all children.
Vulnerable Sector Screening Check (upon hire – if under 18 years of age, a voluntary disclosure form will be provided by the camp for you to sign instead)
Access to a personal device (i.e. laptop) to complete job responsibilities
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C (or willingness to obtain)
This job may be funded by the Government of Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP). The SWPP program requires that candidates be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
